Freeze frame premiere
This first method can only be used with files edited in the Project being edited in the Timeline, as none of the options that allow you to change the playback speed can be applied to Browser clips.
Whichever way you choose, a frozen block of two seconds will be created, which will be inserted where the playback bar is, i.e. the clip (and the whole montage) will increase in length by two seconds. In the case of audio, the audio disappears completely during the freeze, you could say that it is also frozen, in suspense while the image is stopped.
By default, Final Cut gives a duration of 4 seconds to all still images (unless another value is specified in the preferences), a duration that can be modified in the Project by editing the clip length. Unlike in the previous case, where you could subtly soften the stop of the video (by checking the Speed Transition checkbox), when it is a still image, the freeze frame comes in at once (whether it has been edited by plugging, inserting or overwriting).
Video frame effect
In social networks and on YouTube, this resource is widely used to create the thumbnail or cover of the video, this is achieved thanks to the capture frame function that all major video editing programs have.
Premiere by default gives the freeze frame a duration of 2 seconds. You can modify that duration on the timeline itself using the selection tool, shortening or lengthening the duration of the freeze clip.
Exporting a freeze frame can be used to create a thumbnail of the video and upload it to social networks and, for example, to send by email or WhatsApp an image of a specific moment of the project.
In the video you have below you have all this explained with examples that is certainly the best way to understand it, plus you have completely free 20 different camera trigger sounds. You will find the link to the file in the description of the video on YouTube.
