Plants are beings because they manufacture their own food.

The chlorophyll function or photosynthesis of plants is the cycle by which plant, aquatic and terrestrial species feed and develop. Basically, this process allows the plant to convert inorganic matter into organic matter through the absorption of solar energy and carbon dioxide by means of chlorophyll found in the chloroplasts of the leaves. Plants retain light energy and transform it into chemical energy that is stored in adeonsin triphosphate (ATP) molecules. Take a look at a dictionary and you will see that “photosynthesis” is made up of two words, “photo” which means light, and “synthesis” which means to make something. Just by knowing the meaning of these two words we have an indication of how plants get their food. They do it by using light.
