To create the habit of reading there is no way to get the interest and curiosity of the students, here are some tips for you to awaken in them this hobby and to help them to know themselves better.
If we want to choose titles that really catch our students’ attention, the best thing to do is to know what their interests are, what their favorite hobbies are, what they enjoy and what their concerns are. Give your class time for your students to talk about themselves, to expose their interests, their objects and stories with which they have emotionally connected, this can help you better understand which titles will open their imagination and with which they will connect better.
Sometimes we may believe that there is literature more important than another, that students are reading fantasy or science fiction is sometimes seen as if they are approaching minor genres, but this is a perception a little biased by what we understand as culture or quality of a book, on the contrary, no matter what title students approach, they can be great hidden gems. Let’s avoid increasing those biases, especially with parents and celebrate any interest students have, sometimes in those niches of information that catch their attention lies the source of motivation for them.
