The cruel prince

The pages flow with frightening speed, and this is where I am presented with the mixed emotions of any typical reader who has been caught up in the plot of a book. Between wanting to know what happens, but wishing it would never end.

The Cruel Prince wasn’t a book that particularly caught my attention, and although it kept popping up by chance, I ended up passing on it completely.    But one day I gave myself the chance to read it.

Although at first it seems that the story doesn’t go beyond the predictable, with bland and cliché dialogues, and with a typical, somewhat stubborn protagonist who says “make me” when someone warns her NOT to do something; it’s this same boring and “more of the same” impression that ends up being more than wrong.    You have to be patient in the beginning, as the first few pages are mostly introductory.

A story full of surprises and unexpected twists and turns, even this first impression I mentioned is completely overturned. It seems that the author was sailing into deeper waters than what at first seemed forced to bring forward.

Every time I see it in a bookstore it calls out to me. It’s a more adult collection of short stories, with more realistic overtones and perhaps a darker touch. This one will be part of my collection, I assure you.

This is when you guys get mad at me…XD I’ve read only 2 and a half books of this celebrated saga. I started it and I liked it, but then other readings got in the way and the fact that they made it so long made me very lazy. The world created by the author is great, but there are so many books out there that I didn’t want to stay only in this one, sorry….

Of this trilogy I have read the first one, and I liked it at the time, but it took them a while to release the next one and I stopped being interested in it… it was too long XD . In this novel we are facing a more adult book with hints of romantic literature, in which seduction is a fundamental part of the plot. Tink is the fairy (fairy) that populates its pages, and the truth is that it is out of the topics of the genre, is a character that will make you laugh.

“Royal Song” brings us closer to an episode in the life of Coriane, first consort of King Tiberias, and mother of Cal. Coriane, newly married and expecting her firstborn, writes a secret diary about life in the palace. “Scars of Steel” follows the wanderings of Farley, commander of the Scarlet Guard, in his fast-paced quest to add outcasts to the rebel cause. Farley was forged in the flame of hopelessness, but leading a maverick faction in its first attempted coup in the capital will be a test with consequences hard to forget.
